Some Notes About the Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon tells the tale of two young missionaries who in an attempt to convert the citizens to the Mormon religion, they are sent to Uganda. Elder price is one of the missionaries who has a strong dedication to his faith and is and an enthusiastic go-getter, his partner Elder Cunningham, however, is a well-meaning, socially awkward nerd who tends to embroider the truth, a habit the soon gets him into trouble. When Elder Price and Cunningham arrive in Africa, they learn that this is a society which is plagued by poverty, AIDS, and violence, succeeding on this mission may not be as simple as the assumed.

The Book of Mormon record-breaking play returns February 7-12 to Broadway in Richmond.

Although there is a seating capacity of over 3,500 at the Altria Theater, in November 2014 when actor Jake Emmerling stepped onto the stage for “The Book of Mormon,” he found it to be very intimate.

Speaking of where the musical is touring which is Jacksonville, Fla., he said: “In an intimate setting, the show read very well, I felt a connection with the audience.”

Emmerling is a member of the show who plays eight different characters, this includes Elder Michaels. On February 7, when The Book of Mormon returns to Richmond at the Altria, he will take the stage again.
